It's Official

Today I am stuck in the house with my first snow day in Minnesota.  I am not really excited about it but nothing I can do.  Husband went to work this morning but is coming home early due to the weather and needing to shovel snow.  We got about 16 inches yesterday and suppose to get more today.  Of course one of my clients really wants me to see her today for 2 reasons: 1. She needs cigarettes(I could care less about this one) and 2. She needs help unloading a storage closet(judging by her home she cant have 5 items in her closet).  Regardless she will not be seeing me today.  I couldn't get out of the garage if I wanted to.  They haven't come by with the snow plow yet so I am sitting in front of the TV watching shows I usually don't get to see.  Hopefully I get to go to work tomorrow!!!!!!!!!

Heat Wave

Here in the North Pole we are currently experiencing a heat wave.  It is suppose to be in the 50's today.  Our lake pond in the back is thawing.  I know that it did not start thawing this early last year.  I am not complaning on comparing.  I have gained some weight due to these very cold temperatures so I am ready for it to warm up so we can get outdoors.  Our garage is a disaster due to everything my car tracks in so we really need to clean that.  We have some other projects that we really need to get on.  I know that it will likely snow again before spring but hopefully not too much.  We do have a chance for flurries tomorrow!

neglected!!!!

Once again this blog has become NEGLECTED. I decided to give you all an update of our NOT so exciting life. Of course we have been working and I had JL twice this week. Valentine's is tomorrow and we have already been celebrating. We kind of celebrate little holiday's for a week. We started with dinner last night at a local italian food restaurant and dessert from our favorite grocery store. We also watched The Town. It was really good,I actually stayed awake. Today we had breakfast and then went to the mall. Husband bought some Super Bowl goodies! We are only exchanging cards tomorrow so that won't be blog worthy. Then next weekend we are going to our favorite brunch place and then Valentine's 2011 will be over!!!

My parents are coming in 4 weeks and I am beyond excited!!!!! We already have some fun things planned. I am really needing some family time!!! I always have so much FUN with my husband and parents(of course we will miss the other Dykes!)

Lost his Mind

Husband has officially lost his mind. Estate sales/War memorabilia has taken over his life. You all know that estate sales are a HUGE part of our lives. Well now husband has started looking on Craigslist and EBay for goodies. To many this probably sounds pretty innocent. Well last weekend I was taking a nap(due to my late night the night before) and was woken by him being on the phone and planning a meeting. Come to find out he had made plans to meet a man in a Best Buy parking lot to buy a uniform. So we buy a uniform and head on our way. Ok, this probably isn't too bad, right??? Well earlier this week I catch him taking pictures of some little metal wings he purchased a few weekends ago. I ask him what in the h**# he is doing and he states he is sending them to his friend on EBay. Then I giggle and say your friend, huh? He says yes my friend. I explain to him that he does not know this person and probably never will! Well I am talikng to my mom the other night about this problem my husband has and she brought something really important to my attention. No matter if he is a man or not he/we need to be careful when meeting these strangers. So we talked and will take the meeting part a little more serious next time. BUT the scary part is Husband really thinks of these people as his friends, bless his little heart!! Example-he called me last night on his way home excited as could be because he had talked to his "friend" and found out the date of his wings. So he has decided to sale his wings!!!! Hopefully this is just a spell he is going thru and it will end soon! Not sure I want him to make many more "friends"!!!

Another issue we always discuss is where he would have housed all of these things if we still lived in Midland. He doesn't really have an answer. Now he does have a room/office that he is able to put everything in. Many of you are probably asking if I will ever put a stop to it due to space/time. The honest answer is at this time NO. I know one reason that this has consumed his life is due to him not being able to hunt as much as he would like. I know that he truly Loves hunting but I do think he does really enjoy the "hunt" at a sale. And then about the space, I am a dreamer and I hope that our next home will be even bigger than our current one and so we should have plenty of space(even if our family grows!!!!)

Of course we have an estate sale to go to tomorrow that has war stuff.
Hopefully this weekend I can take some pictures of some goodies that we have bought. We don't have a busy weekend but will busy Sunday with the BIG game!!!!

True Friends

(If this post has tons of errors please excuse as I am posting on my phone while waiting on a client-multi tasking!!!)

So back to the post....... Some of our dearest,truest best friends have booked their tickets to come visit and we could not be any more excited. I feel so blessed that they have chosen to take their first trip post baby to come visit us. We have many friends say they are coming but none have taken the plunge BUT Ronald and Abbye!!!! They will be our first visitors non-family!!! We are going to have a blast!!! I cannot wait to show are wonderful friends everything there is to do here in MINNESOTA. Just to show how excited I am I already have 90% of the trip planned. There will be plenty of good eatin, shopping and catching up. We LOVE you guys and can't wait to see you, a little closer to time I will do a countdown post.

Previous and Upcoming

This previous weekend was not that fun.  Husband had inventory so he worked late Friday night and then Saturday we spent most of the day at his work finishing up.  We did have a good steak dinner at Outback(Thanks ACG!!).  Sunday we watched husbands favorite NFL team make it to the Super Bowl.  He is one happy man!!!!!!!

This upcoming weekend I have my BIG JL event.  It is a sampliong of food from some local chefs and dueling pianos and of course open bar.  This is not husbands kind of fun so he will be staying at home while I go and work the event rather than attend the event.  I am anxious to get this event over.  I have had multiple meetings for this event and I am tired of talking about junk.  This is the committee that I was placed on but will be getting a new committee come April and I couldn't be happier.  Although I have no idea what committee looks like FUN. 

I am ready for a weekend to do whatever we want to do.  We are use to these and treasure these. 

Completely out of Your Comfort Zone

This is exactly what happen to husband and I a year ago.  We were taken completely out of our comfort zone.  Not that I think it was a bad thing, and NO I would not change anything that has happend. 

I LOVE OUR NEW COMFORT ZONE!!!!!!

A year ago this Tuesday we started our journey to Minnesota.  I remember when I first found out about this "adventure" and I told one of my co-workers(shout out-Katherine) and said the exact words that I was about to be taken out of my comfort zone.  Anyways..............  we made it to Minnesota and couldn't be happier.  We LOVE each other more today than we did a year ago and treasure things we use to take for granted.  We both LOVE our jobs and the new "adventures" that we experience every weekend(although lately our life has been very boring, ex.-the lack of blogging).  I do actually enjoy this job more than I did in Midland although I had more of co-workers in Midland and I do dearly miss those.  Of course we also miss our families and friends(ESPECIALLY C,C and C!!!!!!).  Hopefully someday in the future we will be back closer to TX.  BUT for now we are going to enjoy what we have and look to the future at everything we still want to accomplish as a couple and as a family.
